Potatoes
Potatoes at Scholes are grown specifically for our customers, so the priority is to produce high quality, high yielding potatoes. Production begins in the autumn of the previous year, whereby suitable land is allocated.
The planting operation begins in late March and continues until the middle of May. A programme for maintaining the crops health is then put into place throughout the season.
The harvest starts in mid July and runs until late October. Our highly trained operators ensure crops are harvested as gently as possible. Crops are rigorously checked on intake by our quality control team which allows us to carefully match fulfilment of our customer’s requirements to exacting standards.
Potatoes are kept in purpose built storage to maintain quality to the highest level, and only leave these environmentally controlled stores just ahead of when the customer places an order.
